For the Days Lost is not a continuation from Liturgy. It's an experiment in a much more dynamic and nuanced direction, and while I don't think that it's better than Liturgy, some people might like the more intimate and personal direction of it. It stays somewhere in the realm between indie rock and alternative metal; you could argue it's prog, but I would argue against it.
